Fun Day

I know you can't buy love, but you CAN buy fun.

Yesterday, I went to the store to buy a volleyball net.  Kmart had them cheap, and I also noticed some super-soaker water guns on sale.  So I got a bunch, snuck them into the house, and called Grace.  We each took a gun, filled it, then called the boys outside.  They came, completely unaware, and we soaked them.  We spent the rest of the day in water fights.  It was awesome.

This is Matt saying, "Hey!"  He didn't like being squirted.

Here's the new volleyball net.  It's great, except our backyard is so small, I had to go running after the ball several times when we sent it flying over the fence.

I made the mistake of telling Matt that we were going to go swimming later.  All of the sudden, he disappeared (which is not that unusual), and we found him sitting in the car, waiting to go to the pool.  Sweet boy.  I had to drag him out of there and explain that we'd go after dinner.

We had a dance party while I was preparing dinner.  That made him happy.  We have pre-dinner dance parties daily around here.  The kids' favorites are Queen, The Moody Blues, and the Beatles.

And boys are gross.  I noticed something in Joey's ear today.  I thought it would just be a tiny little bit of wax, but as I began a closer inspection, I pulled out a wad of string.  A big wad.  I should have taken a picture of it, but it would have grossed you out.  I asked him if he put it in there, and after a few moments of denial, he finally fessed up.  I asked him where he got the string, and he pointed to the bottom of his cut-off jean shorts.  He demonstrated how he pulled out one of the strings hanging down, wadded it up, and pushed it into his ear.  And I still don't know why.

Matthew is now also amazed and intrigued with inside garbage as well as outside garbage.  He has been emptying all of the bathroom and bedroom garbages into the big central garbage in the kitchen.  The only problem is that when those are empty, he finds more things to throw away.  Like perfectly good diapers that haven't been used yet.  And his pants.  He threw away his pants.

It's going to be a long week.
