Andrew and Ben joined their friends, Rob and his daughter Claire, on a 3-day hiking trip in the Beartooth mountains. Rob's wife had called me and told me she wasn't going to let Rob take Claire alone, and they needed the expert in wilderness hiking, camping, and survival (Ben) to go with them if the trip was going to happen.
So after re-arranging the trip a few times, they set out on a Thursday. They packed with them everything they would need for the three days. They strapped their clothes, food, and shelter to their backs. There were no "facilities" along the way, which for the boys was not so much of a problem. But Claire sure learned a few things that weekend.
Their final destination was Lost Lake. They passed a few people along the way, but basically had the lake all to themselves. They did not use any matches -- Ben's specialty is making fire without matches. They had a great time, and made it back alive!
